San Giovanni in Marignano, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, is the natural gateway to the Conca Valley when heading inland from the coast. It is known as the Breadbasket of the Malatesta, given the fertility of its lands and the presence of over two hundred underground pits for storing wheat. It also boasts a fortification built by Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti. San Giovanni is a village that is alive year round thanks to renowned restaurants serving cuisine based on local produce, and the numerous events held here throughout the year like “Witches Night”, “New Year’s Eve Wine and Wine Crushing Palio”, the thousand-year-old “Ancient Fair of St Lucy” and the “Spring Festival”.
